How much does Ozempic cost? On October 14, 2026, NovoCare Pharmacy, the self-pay pharmacy run by Novo Nordisk, listed Ozempic pens at $349 a month for the 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg doses and $499 for the 2 mg dose. The list price that most people see first is $1,027.51 per pen, and most people with health insurance do not pay it.

Prices and offers change, so I read each maker page on October 14, 2026, and you should check the maker’s page before you pay. I am not a medical professional, and a prescriber decides whether any of these medicines fits you.

How Much Does Ozempic Cost Without Insurance?

Without insurance, the maker’s own pharmacy charges $349 a month for 0.25, 0.5 or 1 mg and $499 a month for 2 mg, as NovoCare’s Ozempic page showed on October 14, 2026. One month means one box with one Ozempic pen.

New patients get a lower start. Patients new to the Ozempic Savings Offer or to NovoCare Pharmacy pay $199 a month for the 0.25 and 0.5 mg doses, for two monthly fills, and the offer runs through December 31, 2026. After those two fills the $349 price applies. NovoCare says Novo Nordisk can change or cancel the program at any time.

Paying cash outside your plan has a catch. NovoCare states that money spent outside your insurance does not count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket limit.

How Much Do Ozempic Pills Cost?

NovoCare’s price table for Ozempic tablets listed $149, $199 and $299 a month on October 14, 2026, and its footnote says the self-pay price varies by dose. One month is a bottle of 30 tablets. NovoCare’s list price page names 1.5 mg, 4 mg and 9 mg tablets, and the price table does not say which price goes with which strength, so ask the pharmacy which price matches yours.

What Is the Ozempic List Price, and Why Do Most People Not Pay It?

The list price is $1,027.51 for each Ozempic pen, according to NovoCare’s list price explainer. NovoCare defines list price as the original price set by the manufacturer before discounts or rebates.

The same page says most people with health insurance do not pay list price. What you pay depends on your plan, whether it covers the drug, and how much of your deductible you have met.

How Much Does Ozempic Cost With Insurance?

With commercial insurance that covers Ozempic, the manufacturer’s savings offer lets you pay as little as $25, with savings capped at $100 a month. Ozempic.com says government beneficiaries are excluded from the $25 offer, and Medicare Part D and Medicaid patients can use the self-pay options instead.

Whether your plan covers it at all is a separate question. Ozempic.com says coverage depends on your plan’s formulary, the FDA-approved use, and any prior authorization or step therapy. The FDA label lists Ozempic for adults with type 2 diabetes, including to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular death in those with established heart disease, and to lower kidney risks in those with chronic kidney disease. Weight loss is not among its listed uses.

Does Medicare Cover Ozempic?

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge does not list Ozempic, which is separate from regular Part D coverage, and Ozempic.com says most Part D plans cover it at a cost that varies by plan. Medicare.gov says that starting July 1, 2026, Medicare covers Wegovy (injection or tablet), Foundayo tablets and the Zepbound KwikPen, with a $50 copayment for a one-month supply, and Ozempic does not appear on its list.

Eligibility on that page starts at age 18 and a BMI of 35 or higher. A BMI of 30 or higher counts with heart failure of the diastolic type, uncontrolled high blood pressure or chronic kidney disease stage 3a or higher. A BMI of 27 or higher counts with prediabetes, a prior heart attack or stroke, or peripheral artery disease with symptoms.

People who already get GLP-1 drugs through a Part D plan are excluded, and so are people with type 2 diabetes, moderate to severe sleep apnea or fatty liver disease. Medicare.gov adds that a Part D plan might cover GLP-1 drugs in those cases, so a diabetes prescription is a question for your plan.

How Much Does Ozempic Cost for Weight Loss?

Ozempic is not the version the FDA approved for weight loss. That is Wegovy, which is also semaglutide, and its FDA label covers reducing excess body weight in adults with obesity, or with overweight plus at least one weight-related condition. How Much Does Wegovy Cost?

The Wegovy price page showed the pen at $199 a month for the first two fills of the 0.25 or 0.5 mg dose for new patients, through December 31, 2026. After that it listed $349 a month for 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 or 2.4 mg and $399 for the 7.2 mg dose, as read on October 14, 2026.

The Wegovy pill was listed at $149 a month for 1.5 mg, $199 for 4 mg, and $299 for 9 mg and 25 mg. Commercially insured patients can pay as little as $25 a month, capped at $100 of savings, and government beneficiaries are excluded.

How Does Zepbound Pricing Compare?

Zepbound is a different drug, tirzepatide from Eli Lilly. Its savings page listed KwikPen self-pay prices of $299 for 2.5 mg, $399 for 5 mg, $499 for 7.5 mg and $699 for 10 to 15 mg on October 14, 2026. A self-pay savings card brings the higher doses down to $449, and the card savings end December 31, 2026.

What Did Weight Loss Look Like in the Trial, and in My Experience?

This is my experience, not medical advice. I was 47 and about 68 pounds overweight when I started GLP-1 injections in May 2024, and in 14 months I lost 31 pounds, as I wrote on my about page.

The typical result sits next to it. In the STEP 1 trial, which enrolled 1,961 adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition, and no diabetes, semaglutide 2.4 mg lost an average of 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks versus 2.4% on placebo, with lifestyle changes in both groups, per the published results. That trial was not limited to women over 40, and results vary a lot from person to person.

Will the Price of Ozempic Go Down?

The list price is scheduled to fall on January 1, 2027, and Novo Nordisk says that does not change its self-pay prices. Novo Nordisk’s February 24, 2026 announcement sets a list price of $675 a month for Ozempic, Wegovy and Rybelsus starting January 1, 2027.

The company states that list price changes do not affect its direct-to-patient self-pay prices. Plan on the self-pay numbers above and check the dates, since the introductory offers end December 31, 2026.

How Much Does Compounded Semaglutide Cost?

Compounded semaglutide is a different product from Ozempic, and the FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA approved, so it does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality. Its page on unapproved GLP-1 drugs, current as of October 1, 2026, also reports adverse events that may be related to dosing errors and warning letters to telehealth companies.

If you decide to try telehealth, a licensed clinician decides whether a medicine is right for you. ShedRx lists compounded semaglutide injections, brand Wegovy and Zepbound among its products, and its page showed GLP-1s “From $159/mo” on October 14, 2026 without saying which medicine or dose that price covers. The page also says a prescription is issued only after a consultation with a licensed provider who decides whether treatment is appropriate. I may earn a commission if you sign up through that link.

What Safety Information Comes With Ozempic?

The Ozempic FDA label carries a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors. In rodents, semaglutide caused these tumors at clinically relevant exposures, and it is unknown whether Ozempic causes them in humans.

The label says Ozempic is contraindicated with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2, or after a serious allergic reaction to semaglutide. How Can You Compare Ozempic Prices Before Your First Fill?

Make three phone calls and get one price in writing. Call your insurance plan about coverage, prior authorization and your deductible, call the pharmacy for the cash price of your exact dose, and ask your prescriber whether another medicine fits your health better.

Keep each quote in one note with the date, the pharmacy, the dose, how many weeks it covers and whether it is a first-fill offer. If your dose changes, ask for a new quote, since the NovoCare price differs by dose.
