Wegovy Cost in 2026: What You Pay With and Without Insurance

Wegovy cost depends on how you pay. On the NovoCare Wegovy page, read on October 22, 2026, the list price is $1,349.02 per package, the cash price for the weekly pen is $349 a month, and people with commercial insurance can pay as little as $25 a month under the maker’s savings offer. Medicare, Medicaid and employer plans each follow different rules, so your own number may land anywhere in that range.

I am not a clinician, so prices and rules below come from the maker, FDA, CMS and KFF pages I link, with the date I read them. Prices change, so confirm on the maker’s page before you decide. How much does Wegovy cost per month without insurance?

Without insurance, the weekly Wegovy pen costs $349 a month through NovoCare Pharmacy for the 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 and 2.4 mg doses, and $399 a month for the 7.2 mg dose, according to the NovoCare self-pay terms read on October 22, 2026. In those terms one month for the pen is 28 days, which is one box of four pens. Two months cost $698 and three months cost $1,047 at the $349 price, so there is no extra discount for buying ahead.

What does the Wegovy pill cost?

The same terms list the Wegovy tablet at $149 for the 1.5 mg dose, $199 for 4 mg, and $299 for the 9 mg and 25 mg doses, with one month meaning 30 tablets. The NovoCare page labels the pill and new-patient pen prices a limited time offer and adds that Novo Nordisk can change or cancel the program at any time.

What is the Wegovy list price?

NovoCare shows a list price of $1,349.02 per package for the pill, the pen and the 7.2 mg pen. That is the price before any program or insurance. NovoCare says money you spend through its self-pay offer does not count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket limit.

Is there a cheaper Wegovy price for new patients?

Yes, for a short window. The NovoCare terms say new patients, meaning people who never filled a Wegovy injection prescription through NovoCare, can pay $199 for each of their first two 28-day fills of the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg pens. The third fill is at the standard $349. The prescription has to be written and received by the pharmacy by the end of the day on December 31, 2026, and shipped by January 31, 2027.

NovoCare says the offer cannot be combined with other offers and may be paused to protect supply. The terms define new by your NovoCare history, so ask NovoCare how it would count you.

What drives your Wegovy cost?

Five things move your bill: form, dose, new-patient status, insurance type and where you buy. The table puts the confirmed numbers next to each.

The $300 in the table is two fills at $349 minus two fills at $199.

How much does Wegovy cost with commercial insurance?

With commercial insurance the NovoCare page says you may “pay as little as $25” per month, and a footnote caps the savings at $100 a month. It also says government beneficiaries are excluded and that eligibility and restrictions apply. Whether you get that price depends first on whether your plan covers Wegovy for weight reduction at all, so call the number on your insurance card and ask.

Many plans do not. KFF’s 2025 employer health benefits survey, released October 22, 2025, found that about 1 in 5 large firms with 200 or more workers (19 percent) cover GLP-1 drugs such as Wegovy for weight loss. Among firms with at least 5,000 workers, 43 percent said they cover them in their largest plan, up from 28 percent in 2024. The survey counts firms that offer benefits, not individual plans, and it does not report a figure for firms under 200 workers.

Does Medicare cover Wegovy?

It depends on why Wegovy is prescribed. The CMS page for Part D plans (last modified August 6, 2026) lists Wegovy to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events as a Part D covered use. The FDA label for Wegovy, revised August 2025, includes that indication for adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight. If that is you, the request goes to your Part D plan, which sets its own cost sharing.

What is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge?

For weight management alone, Medicare.gov says that starting July 1, 2026, Medicare covers certain GLP-1 drugs through a temporary program called the GLP-1 Bridge, including Wegovy as an injection or tablet, for a $50 monthly copayment. CMS says the Bridge runs between July 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027.

You must be 18 or older and meet one of three tests at the start of therapy: a BMI of 35 or higher; a BMI of 30 or higher plus diastolic heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure or stage 3a or higher chronic kidney disease; or a BMI of 27 or higher plus prediabetes, a previous heart attack or stroke, or peripheral artery disease with symptoms. People who already get GLP-1 drugs covered through Part D are not eligible, and neither are people with type 2 diabetes, moderate to severe sleep apnea or fatty liver disease. The $50 copayment does not count toward your drug plan deductible or out-of-pocket limit.

Can you pay cash for Wegovy if you have Medicare?

You can use NovoCare’s self-pay prices, with conditions. The terms say patients with commercial or government insurance may self-pay if they agree not to seek reimbursement from any insurer, and Medicare patients must also agree to tell their insurer, if asked, that they bought through the self-pay offer. The $25 savings offer is a different program and excludes government beneficiaries.

Does Medicaid cover Wegovy?

Sometimes. KFF’s brief on Medicaid coverage of GLP-1s, published January 16, 2026, counted 13 state Medicaid programs covering GLP-1s for obesity treatment under fee-for-service as of January 2026, and says coverage for obesity remains optional for states. If you have Medicaid, your state formulary is the place to get a real answer.

Is compounded semaglutide a cheaper way to get Wegovy?

Compounded semaglutide is not Wegovy, and the FDA says so plainly. On its page about unapproved GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss (content current as of October 1, 2026), the agency says unapproved versions do not go through FDA review for safety, effectiveness and quality, and it has received reports of adverse events, some requiring hospitalization, that may be related to dosing errors with compounded injectable semaglutide.

The FDA’s advice is to get a prescription from your doctor and fill it at a state-licensed pharmacy, and to be cautious of telehealth companies that offer deep discounts or skip screening. Which telehealth services offer brand-name Wegovy?

The Shed GLP-1 page, read on October 22, 2026, says it offers brand-name Wegovy and Zepbound as well as compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, and that a licensed provider reviews your form before any prescription is issued. How much does a year of Wegovy cost?

At the NovoCare cash price of $349, twelve monthly fills of the pen come to $4,188, and thirteen 28-day fills, which is what 52 weeks actually needs, come to $4,537. What do you get for the cost of Wegovy?

In the STEP 1 trial, adults on Wegovy’s 2.4 mg dose lost an average of 14.9 percent of body weight over 68 weeks, compared with 2.4 percent on placebo. The New England Journal of Medicine paper, funded by Novo Nordisk, enrolled 1,961 adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition, who did not have diabetes. Everyone received a lifestyle intervention. Those are averages; individual results vary.

What safety information should you read before paying for Wegovy?

The FDA label carries a boxed warning about the risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. It says Wegovy is contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2, and the most common side effects listed include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation.
